As the brainchild of Jill V. Dae - director, and Anirudh Pisharody - producer, we pride ourselves as makers of original and innovative content for the undercurrent eye.
As storytellers, it is our goal to captivate the audience with the art of visuals. We offer services ranging from story development and scriptwriting, to full-scale production spanning any length and scope. Our team works tirelessly to achieve the best product imaginable for your unique ideas, and we love filmmaking for the magical and breathtaking process that it is.

Jill V. Dae
CEO / Director
Jill V. Dae is a Chinese-Canadian director originally from Hong Kong.

In 2018, Jill was awarded "30 Under 30 Filmmakers to Watch" by the Los Angeles Film Awards Association for her winning film "Rebirth". The film also won awards across five countries. Her other directorial accomplishments include sci-fi short "The Discovery", a finalist out of 500 films at LAFA, as well as a female-oriented film series titled "Prayer" and "Deliverance".

In 2020, Jill's sci-fi dystopian TV pilot script "UMERIKA" won the Fresh Voices International Screenplay Competition. It also won the Diversity & Inclusion Award for it's courageous commentary on race relations.

Working globally, Jill specializes in all facets of challenging productions including high profile talent relations, on-location filming, and impactful storytelling. She co-founded Black Velvet Films with the specific intention of broadening the horizon on diverse voices.

Anirudh Pisharody
COO / Executive Producer
Anirudh Pisharody is a producer and actor. Born in India and raised in Austin, Texas, he brings small-town hospitality to Hollywood productions.

Though a cinephile from young, strict cultural and parental pressure drove him on a medical path. After graduating from the The University of Texas at Austin in Public Health and a short stint in healthcare finance in Washington D.C, Anirudh quickly realized it was now or never to chase his dreams. In movie-like fashion, he packed up his life in a suitcase and moved to sunny Los Angeles. Using his financial and managerial background and exceptional leadership skills, he founded Black Velvet Films.
Since then, Anirudh has had the pleasure of working on numerous narrative films, music videos, and industrial spots. His notable career as an actor has allowed him to develop special relationships to take any project to the next level and achieve international appeal.
